The Rose Encoded is a technology cooperative that helps credit unions support real cooperative ownership for their members.
The Rose Encoded is a cooperative specializing in product design and instructional design; we build the framework that credit unions and community colleges support, so members can discover what real cooperative ownership might be like.
Altera Studio will be an educational program built for streaming, where each cohort will present its journey as it unfolds in real time, with a credit union as its financing partner and instructional advisor, and a community college as its academic home.

- Communities will explore, together, how to build a single organization that unites farming, job services, and care, with clear capital structures and governance that members will shape for themselves.
- A platform stack powers the whole thing. TREC's fintech, therapy technology, and streaming tools will carry capital flows, integrated care systems, and community records, designed for credit union values and member ownership.
- A credit union and a community college will serve as partners. Together, they will provide instruction and financing to keep the work grounded in the mission.

WHAT MEMBERS WILL BUILD, AND HOW YOU'LL GET THERE
One curriculum. Members will build it. Their credit union backs it.
Altera Studio will teach communities how to weave together land, work, and care into a cooperative they will own.
Each cohort will design its own version, guided by the same curriculum. Here's an example of what a cohort's cooperative could look like — three connected pieces, exploreable in any order:
- Ownership, explored through the REIC. It will own and finance the land, and invest in what's built on it.
- Purpose, explored through the Therapy Center. Where people will do meaningful work, not just receive care.
- Shared resources, explored through the AEC. It will share equipment regionally and help keep the center funded.
How You'll Build and Own It
You won't start by calling TREC. You'll enroll in Altera Studio at your local community college, whether you're already a credit union member or joining one to build with your community.
The path runs through five phases — Organize, Plan, Implement, Sustain, and Federate — but what you explore inside each phase is yours to shape. Ownership, purpose, and shared resources aren't a checklist. They're three threads your cohort will weave together at your own pace, on your own terms.
By the time you reach the Sustaining phase, what you built will be yours to govern. Revenue will circulate back into your community, designed to keep working for the place it started.
For Credit Unions: How You Partner and What You Gain
You'll sponsor Altera Studio and support the students inside—your members and future members —as they build their vision. That will put you in the room with them months before they need a product, so you'll meet them as a teacher and a partner, not as a lender making a pitch.
